Members The Council consists of a chairperson and deputy chairperson, and 15 members and their substitutes, who are nominated for three-year terms. The present term expires on September 28th, 2014.
Social Crime Prevention Crime can be prevented by having an impact on those characteristics which lead some persons to be more likely than other persons to commit offences. This strategy is called social crime prevention.
National Programme for Reducing Violence in Finland The decision in principle for the National Programme for Reducing Violence was made by the Government 14 December 2006. The programme was prepared by the National Council for Crime Prevention. The programme is aimed to be used until the end of 2008 alongside of the National Crime Prevention Programme and the Internal Security Programme.
