New logo (28.5.2003)
The logo has been designed by Teemu Sirviö, a 30 year old graphic designer from the city of Kajaani. He won the competition initiated by the council, where young graphic designers all over Finland were summoned to give their ideas. Altogether 40 contestants with 45 propositions participated.
The logo manifests co-operation, different actors striving towards a mutual goal. It's a dynamic logo: something is about to happen. It also gives an impression of a flash, an illumination of a sort. It symbolizes activities based on expertise, with a goal of preventing crime and enhancing security. The blue and white colours link the logo to Finland.
