Three Finnish projects were presented in the Aalborg conference, organised 7 and 8 October 2002 by the Danish Presidency, about "Exchange of good practice in crime prevention between practitioners in the Member States".

22nd Jan, 2002. Finland will join the ECPA -competition
The National Council for Crime Prevention has decided that Finland will be participating in the European Crime Prevention Awards (ECPA) competition.

7th Jan, 2002. The funds to be granted for the support of local crime prevention projects in 2002 can now be applied for until 15th March, 2002.
The fund of 118.000 euros is allocated by the Ministry of Justice to local crime prevention projects and evaluations of already implemented projects.

18th Dec, 2001. Chat Safely -campaign
The National Council for Crime Prevention, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and the Association Home and School in Finland have launched (in december 2001) a poster campaign called "Chat Safely", the purpose of which is to protect the young from the dangers associated with chatting through the internet.

11th Sep, 2001. The European Crime Prevention Network EUCPN in operation
The crime prevention network of the European Union, EUCPN, has begun its operation in Brussels. The task of the network is to contribute to crime prevention and support crime prevention at EU, national, and local level. The network consists of national contact points in each member state. The Finnish contact points are the Ministry of Justice, The National Council for Crime Prevention, and the Police College of Finland.
13th Jun, 2001. Financial support for local crime prevention.
The Ministry of Justice has, in accordance with a proposal made by the National Council for Crime Prevention, decided to grant financial support for 11 local crime prevention projects. Five of the projects are aimed at young persons, three are related to local safety planning, and three to the security of residental areas. The total amount granted was 435 000 marks (73 161,75 euros).
