Support for local crime prevention projects
The Ministry of Justice has granted financial support for local crime prevention projects since 1998. In 2008 the yearly amount was 110 000 euro. The support is intended for the start-up of projects, to facilitate local crime prevention and cooperation.
Moreover, 40 000 euro has been allocated for evaluations of already implemented projects and their results.
The decisions
The decisions on granting the support is made by the Ministry of Justice. The National Council for Crime Prevention participates in the decision
making by issuing a statement of the applications. Projects which call for cooperation between local parties and which implement the National Crime Prevention Program are considered especially applicable.
Follow-up
It is the task of the Ministry to keep track of the granted funds. The National Council for Crime Prevention monitors the projects and provides expert guidance on their implementation. The Council also gathers evaluations of the achieved results, and distributes information of the implemented projects.
